TELUS International is seeking participants in pairs for a conversational audio data collection project. The task can be completed remotely from the comfort of your own home.
The objective is to gather around 50 minutes of unscripted conversational audio between each pair.
This project requires you to participate as a pair. It is recommended to participate with a friend, colleague or a family member. However, if you do not have a partner to participate with, we will pair you with another individual participant for performing the task.
Task Description:
The participating pair will record 5 different conversations (around 10 minutes each) with varied tones and animated delivery. Topics need to vary and cover a range of natural, informal subjects. These audio recordings will be used to train speech recognition systems.
Examples of natural, informal subjects: hobbies, pets, travel, sports, etc.
Some topics that are a no-go: medical or health conditions, financial situation of yourself or others.
Both the participants will have to join a Zoom call along with a TELUS International moderator, who will be supporting with the task.
Please note each participant can only complete the project once.
Estimated time to complete the task: 1.5 - 2 hours, including setup time and breaks between conversations for selecting topics.
Expected project duration: October to mid-November.
